Meet Your Midwife

Jessica Rutledge, RN, BSN, CLC, CPM

A licensed midwife whose practice is shaped by her own journey through motherhood — hospital births, a cesarean, three home VBACs, a NICU baby, and every breastfeeding challenge you can name.

Jessica Rutledge, licensed midwife

Her Story

First a child of God. Then a wife, a mother — and a midwife shaped by every one of those names.

Breastfeeding and birth are Jessica's core passions — not as abstractions, but as terrain she has personally walked. Her own path through motherhood has included a hospital delivery with an epidural, a breech baby, a cesarean delivery, a VBAC at home three times, and a NICU baby.

She has personally navigated breast refusal, exclusive pumping, bottle refusal, extended breastfeeding, tongue and lip ties, colic, constant nursing, poor latch, and damaged nipples. When she sits with a family, she is not reciting textbook language — she is remembering.

Rather than pursuing the CNM route, Jessica chose a traditional apprenticeship under an experienced out-of-hospital CPM. She wanted her training rooted in the home — in the quiet, unhurried spaces where physiological birth unfolds best.

Common Questions

Everything you want to know, answered openly.

Is home birth safe?

For healthy, low-risk pregnancies, research shows that planned home births with a qualified midwife have outcomes comparable to hospital births — with significantly lower rates of unnecessary interventions. Jessica is a licensed midwife and registered nurse trained to recognize complications and transfer care when needed.

Does insurance cover home birth midwifery?

Many insurance plans do provide out-of-network coverage for licensed midwifery services. We provide detailed superbills for reimbursement and can help you verify your benefits before you commit. Our complete care package is $7,500.

Who is eligible for a home birth?

Home birth is ideal for individuals with healthy, low-risk pregnancies. During your prenatal care, we continuously assess your health and baby's wellbeing. If a risk factor arises at any point, we collaborate with local physicians and hospitals to ensure the safest plan for you.

What is included in the care package?

Our $7,500 comprehensive care package includes all prenatal visits, continuous midwifery care during labor and birth, birth supplies, newborn exam, and multiple postpartum home visits. Lactation support and childbirth education are woven into your care at no extra charge.

What happens if there is an emergency during labor?

Jessica carries professional-grade emergency equipment and medications to every birth. She is a registered nurse with hospital experience and maintains collaborative relationships with local OBs and hospitals. If transfer is needed, she accompanies you and advocates for your care every step of the way.
